BLACK EXPERIENCE ON XFINITY

About: Comcast wanted to create an all-new channel, specifically for Black entertainment, with the best movies, music, sports, tv shows, documentaries and more. Plus, it serves as a showcase for exclusive original content by creators of color. In an age where more diverse voices are now being heard, Xfinity is changing the game with this culturally curated network. To top it all off, we featured hip hop music legend, MC Lyte, as the VO talent for the launch.

ISSA'S ERA

Issa Rae, Creator of “Awkward Black Girl” web series

Now with thousands of subscribers and over 20 million views, she’s being heard loud and clear. In celebration of Black History Month, XFINITY recognizes and honors Black innovators and the history they’re making today.

NEO GRIOT

Ava DuVernay, Director of the Oscar Nominated Film: “Selma”

She’s felt the strength of thousands as she stood in the footsteps of a King. She even crossed the same narrow bridge that started the difficult path toward equality. The latest journey she’s undertaken as a female filmmaker of color allowed her to connect with stories from our past and share them with future generations. In celebration of Black History Month, XFINITY recognizes and honors Black innovators and the history they’re making today.

MY TV FADES TO BLACK, EVEN WHEN IT’S ON.

I can add more color to my programming by just changing the station, and not adjusting the saturation. I can get more urban networks like TV OneTM and Black Cinema On Demand. And my involvement in the Comcast Digital Connectors Program has helped me polish my digital skills and create videos that tell my side of the story. I’ve always dreamed big; now I dream even bigger. From the Comcast Digital Connectors Program in partnership with global non-profit, One Economy, to NBCUniversal’s innovative “Writers on the Verge” program, which helps prepare emerging talent for prime-time, Comcast is helping turn dreams into reality.

WHEN IT COMES TO DIVERSITY, WE DO SEE COLOR.

It’s about having your community reflected on the big screen and behind the scenes. It’s offering culturally relevant programming that entertains, but also informs and inspires dreams. At Comcast, we embrace the diversity of the communities we serve, the vendors we partner with, and the students we mentor. We see the full spectrum of possibilities.
